Hayward Park residents Chris Brousseau and MaryLou Cronin recently hosted a
Neighborhood Coffee for me to meet their neighbors and hear what issues are on their
mind. There were lots of questions about the upcoming Measure T ballot measure,
local safety, train noise, improving Downtown cleanliness, the importance of trees as
“urban canopies” and how the City can help small businesses defray costs.
will be upcoming neighborhood coffees in Aragon and The Mounds. Please
contact me if you’d like to host a neighborhood coffee. I am grateful to Chris, MaryLou
and all hosts as this is the best way I can understand your needs and get you the
answers you deserve.
Update: Since our coffee, the City has undertaken a cleaning of all the Downtown “hot
spots.” Staff is working on final recommendations for Council approval so that San
Mateo can become a “Quiet Zone” in 2025/6 and stop the frequent Caltrain horns,
especially throughout the night. This will be a great benefit to all San Mateans.
